From Old to New on a Budget

I have always loved DIY projects when something that has to be remodelled, redesigned, or  completely overhauled.

Our old house became a rental for a number of years after we decided to explore Eastern Europe. It had a galley kitchen with white cabinets, green countertop and cherry laminate flooring. When we finally decided to get rid of our tenants and sell the place we had to completely renovate before we could put the house up for sale. I like IKEA for its simple and clean lines, not so much for its quality:) so I decided to do a free-standing kitchen with open shelving. Very plain and simple, but all done by my husband and I. We had a friend help us lay the tiles in the kitchen as we wanted to replace the laminate flooring with something more durable.

This was all done on a tight budget. So, if you are thinking about it, don’t fret, just do it.

Here are 2 before pics of the kitchen

2 After pictures of the kitchen as it looked all finished. We incorporate a new dishwasher, kept the old fridge and added some plants, of course.
